Lincoln Renaissance Band - New Members Page

Lincoln Renaissance Band meet roughly monthly, with the purpose of playing renaissance music. Currently, the Band are all wind players - crumhorns, recorders, cornamusen, curtals and sackbutt - but we would be delighted for players of other suitable instruments to join us too.

The Band meets from 1:30 pm till 4.00 pm in the music studio of Bishop Grosseteste College, Newport, Lincoln.

Recorder Players

The Band is open to any reasonably competent player of recorders. You should be able to hold a line by yourself, be a tolerable sight-reader, and be able to play both C and F fingered instruments. ie, whilst the required standard is not high, the group is not suitable for absolute beginners. It is obviously best if you do actually possess renaissance recorders rather than baroque instruments, and the ownership of crumhorns or similar instruments would be helpful. Neither of these is vital however, as there are instruments to borrow.
